How long is my certificate valid? How can I verify an employee’s certificate?

API WorkSafe Contractor Safety Qualification Certificates are valid for one year from the date awarded.

UST Operator certificate expirations vary by state. State-specific information is listed in the Training Catalog. Click the course name to open the course details page and scroll to the bottom to view Learning Path Details.

To verify whether a certificate is currently valid, enter the full certificate number (including letters and dashes) here and click Verify.

How early can I renew my certificate? Do I have to wait until my current certificate expires?

The API Learning system allows users to renew up to 60 days before the expiration of their current certificate. Attempting to renew a certificate before this 60-day renewal window begins will result in a certificate that does not include a valid certificate number or expiration date. The user will have to repurchase and retake the program once they reach the 60-day renewal window in order to generate a valid certificate.

If you would like to adjust the size of your certificate, you can do so in your printer settings. Can I purchase a training course for my employee?

Company administrators can purchase coupons each redeemable for one user registration of a specific training course. The price of a coupon is equivalent to the price of its associated training course. Available coupons are titled “COUPON: associated curriculum name” and are listed as items for purchase in our Training Catalog here. All available coupons are listed under the Coupons search category on the left side of the Browse Training page.

To purchase a coupon:

  1. Click Add to Cart next to one of the courses labeled "COUPON:".
  2. Review the details of the course coupon you selected on the next page and edit the quantity if needed. Remember that one coupon equates to one course-specific registration for one user. Click Proceed to Checkout.
  3. If you are not currently logged into your account, you will be prompted to enter your Username and Password, or Create an Account, before viewing the Shopping Cart Checkout page.
  4. After submitting your order, an order confirmation email will be sent to the email address associated with your account. The email will include one unique coupon code for every course coupon purchased.
  5. Distribute the coupon code(s) to your employee(s) as needed.
  6. The employee(s) should log into their individual API Learning account and follow the steps to register for a training course (see: how do I register for a training course?).
  7. On the Shopping Cart Checkout page the employee should enter the full coupon code (starting with COU-) in the "Apply Coupon Code" field in the upper-right checkout box. After the full code has been entered, click Apply so the system can recognize the code. You will see the the Total Amount change to $0.00. Then click Submit Order.
  8. The employee will then see the training course appear under the “Current Registrations” section on their account Homepage.

What if my coupon code isn't working?

  • Make sure the cost of the item in your cart matches the value of the coupon code. For example, the system will not allow you to redeem a $70.00 API WorkSafe Contractor Safety Program coupon for the $55.00 API WorkSafe Contractor Safety Program.
  • Make sure that the item in your cart is the actual training program, and not the item marked "COUPON:". The system will not allow you to purchase a coupon using another coupon.
  • Make sure you are entering the entire unique coupon code exactly how it appears in the order confirmation email. The coupon code will be formatted similar to the following: COU-LP-[course code here]-E[string of unique digits here].
  • Make sure there are no extra spaces before or after the coupon code as the system recognizes these as additional characters.
